Module 1 — Individual Tax Preparation Foundations
This module establishes the professional foundation for preparing an individual federal tax return. Learners begin with the complete preparation workflow and then examine the taxpayer and household information that drives the return. The module concludes with client intake, tax-document organization, missing-information tracking, and professional file management. By the end of Module 1, learners should understand what information must be collected, how it should be organized, and what must be verified before tax data is entered.

Module 2 — Income Documents and Retirement Distributions
Module 2 moves from intake into source-document interpretation and income reporting. Learners work directly with several of the most common income documents used in individual tax preparation: Form W-2, Form 1099-INT, Form 1099-DIV, and Form 1099-R. The emphasis is on recognizing the document, verifying that it belongs to the taxpayer, understanding the purpose of key boxes, and accurately transferring reported information into the preparation workflow.

Module 3 — Deductions, Credits, Payments, and Filing
Module 3 takes learners through the final stages of preparing an individual federal tax return. Learners examine adjustments and deductions, tax credits, withholding and payments, refund or balance-due calculations, client approval, electronic filing, IRS acknowledgments, rejection handling, and final file closure.
